Geelong’s new Recycle4Change facility opens

Geelong’s new Recycle4Change facility opens on Wednesday 1 November in Bell Park offering a 10 cent refund for every eligible can, container and bottle returned.

Geelong is excited to welcome Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) that will reward our community members with a 10 cent refund for every eligible soft drink and beer bottle, can and small fruit juice carton.

From Wednesday 1 November, both residents and businesses of greater Geelong and beyond can bring their collection of eligible recyclable containers to Recycle4Change located at 116, Furner Avenue, Bell Park (North Geelong) to earn a 10 cent tax free refund on each item.

With the fastest singulators in Victoria, Recycled4Change aims to help reduce of drink container waste from going to landfill as part of the Victorian Government’s Container Deposit Scheme that launched in 2023.

Proving even more valuable than collecting 10 cents per recyclable item is the fact that Recycle4Change (R4C) is a not-for-profit social enterprise, registered charity and business certified by Social Traders that will commence operations employing nine women, four men and two youth (under 25) who have been impacted by the justice system.

R4C proudly provides opportunities for local community members impacted by the justice system – who otherwise may face long-term unemployment – by providing support, resources, holistic transitional employment and training programs to enhance self-worth, enable reconnection with families and support overall social reintegration.
Rob Brown, R4C’s Chief Chance Creator, shares,

“R4C is proud to be part of the Victorian CDS which will deliver economic, societal & environmental impact to Geelong & Victoria. The opportunity would not have been possible without the efforts of both the Victorian Government & our partners Tomra Cleanaway Victoria. Whilst the process of singulation & sorting of containers may seem mundane, the purpose behind R4C is far more powerful in creating meaningful transitional employment for returning citizens allowing them to rebuild their lives & become contributing members of society.”

R4C provides fully inclusive employment with no barriers or judgment based on criminal history, race, religion, sexual identity or ethnicity while at the same time reducing environmental impact resulting from waste and playing an integral part in Victoria’s circular economy.

R4C commences operations on Wednesday, 1 November, at 116 Furner Ave, Bell Park (North Geelong) and will be open during the following hours:

Mon-Fri: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Sat: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Sun: 10:00am – 3:00pm
